Puducherry is well-connected by road. There is an airport in Puducherry with daily flights between Bengaluru and Hyderabad.  Puducherry is a 3-hour drive from Chennai International Airport (~150 Km), with frequent bus facilities available between Chennai and Puducherry. Trains to different cities are available as per the irctc website

Pondicherry, now known as Puducherry, is the capital and the most populous city of the Union Territory of Puducherry in India. The city is on the southeast coast of India by the Bay of Bengal and is surrounded by the state of Tamil Nadu, with which it shares most of its culture, heritage, and language.

Puducherry is a great place to unwind, offering a blend of tranquility and rich cultural heritage. Beyond the charming French Quarter, 'The White Town', with its colonial-era villas and chic cafes, visitors can embrace spirituality at the universal township of Auroville, marvel at the sacred heart of Jesus in the imposing Gothic architecture of the Basilica, and enjoy the tranquility of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. The city's coastline along the Bay of Bengal is dotted with picturesque beaches like Promenade, Serenity, and Paradise, providing a perfect escape to nature's serenity. Whether it's the historical allure, spiritual retreats, or natural beauty, Puducherry promises a memorable visit.

Puducherry is surrounded by the temple state of Tamil Nadu which is home to architectural and historical marvels of an ancient India. There are also some great places to visit a few hours drive from Pondicherry. The notable are Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram; Mangrove forest, Pichavaram, Brihadeeshwara Temple, Thanjavur; Meenakshi Temple, Madurai; Kamakshi Temple and Silk sarees of Kancheepuram. Each within a day's travel from Puducherry. The beautiful state of Kerala, is about a day's ride from Puducherry.
